We recently completed a master bathroom in Windsor, Colorado. the shower has one porcelain tile wall with the remainder covered with a green glass and marble mosaic. The shower floor is 4 x 4 inch tumbled travertine.
The tumbled travertine is on the shower floor as well as the deck of the soaking tub. The porcelain accent wall is on the wet wall of the shower which includes a custom niche. The curb of the shower is also wrapped with the same white porcelain tile.
The glass and marble mosaics cover the rest of the installation. The large back wall of the shower continues along the lower back wall of the soaking tub and wraps around the remainder of the tub splash. The face of the tub deck is also covered with the mosaics and runs around into the shower to meet back around at the back wall.
The installation is completed with a small backsplash along the vanity with the same glass and marble mosaic.

The existing bathroom consisted of carpet (who ever thought THAT was a good idea?!?!?), a tub surround with a huge, ugly step up to it, and an acrylic…
I’m posting this to show how Schluter Ditra is used. It’s that bright orange stuff you can see from space. 🙂 Ditra is an “uncoupling” membrane for floor and countertop installations. This simply means that it essentially separates the subfloor (the plywood or chipboard) from the tile installed upon it. Any movement in the subfloor…
I recently finished a shower with 3 x 6 inch ceramic subway tiles. I have done several subway-style showers but this is the only one I documented with photos from start to finish. You can also do a subway shower with travertine tile, which looks really good. I have also done them with marble and…
I recently completed a small basement bathroom remodel in Loveland, Colorado. The existing shower tile was removed and the walls rebuilt and covered with durock cementious backerboard. The existing shower floor waterproofing was questionable so rather than tear it completely out and rebuilding the homeowner opted to just have a topical waterproofing applied to the…

Here are some pictures of a Kerdi shower I installed in Fort Collins, Colorado. The tile is 13 x 9 inch porcelain installed in a running bond (subway) pattern. There are several individual tiles installed with a 2 x 2 inch decorative insert placed in the center of the tile. I also installed one of…
