Johnstown sits just east of I-25 and south of Highway 34, which makes it one of the easiest places for us to reach and one of the fastest-growing towns in Northern Colorado. Neighborhoods like Thompson River Ranch have filled with large, well-priced production homes, and production homes get built to a schedule and a budget. The tile is usually where that shows. Most of our Johnstown work is upgrading what the builder put in – custom showers, real backsplashes, and floors that hold up to a family. TileArt is owner-operated out of Fort Collins, and you work directly with the installer rather than a crew that changes week to week.
Large-format tile and open floor plans
Johnstown’s newer homes tend to be big and open – main floors that run from the entry through the kitchen and great room with no walls to break them up. Homeowners usually want one continuous large-format floor across all of it, and that is a harder installation than it looks. Long, uninterrupted runs need a genuinely flat substrate, because large tiles show lippage at every edge the moment the floor is not flat. They also need movement joints, since a floor that size expands and contracts with the seasons and will crack itself apart if there is nowhere for that to go. We flatten the substrate first, set to industry standards for lippage, and put movement joints where they actually belong rather than where they are least noticeable. That is the difference between a floor that still looks right in ten years and one that telegraphs every seasonal swing.

Why Johnstown homeowners choose TileArt
- Owner-operated since 2009 – you work directly with the installer, not a rotating crew. Roger has been installing tile since 1998.
- Certified Schluter Kerdi installer – the topical-membrane system we prefer for showers that stay mold-free and last.
- Minimum 10-year up to lifetime installation warranty, depending on the materials chosen.
- Premium materials – we prefer Laticrete products throughout and use Laticrete SpectraLOCK epoxy grout, which never needs sealing.
- Free, no-obligation estimates – we measure on site, walk you through your options, and give you a clear proposal.
Systems & materials
We match the system to the job: Schluter Kerdi and Ditra, liquid membranes like RedGard, HydroBan, and Hydrobarrier, cementitious backer board (Durock, HardieBacker), and traditional dry-pack mortar or EPS foam shower pans. Materials include porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass tile, and mosaics.
