Berthoud is two towns at once, and that makes it one of the more interesting places we work. Within a few miles you have century-old homes in and around the historic Mountain Avenue downtown, and brand-new luxury construction out at Heron Lakes around the TPC Colorado golf course. A tile job in one is nothing like a tile job in the other. TileArt handles both – full bathroom and kitchen remodels, custom showers, natural stone and floors – and because we are owner-operated you get the same certified installer either way. Roger has been installing tile since 1998 and has seen most of what both kinds of house can hide.
Old house or new build – two very different tile jobs
In Berthoud’s older homes, what is under the tile matters far more than the tile. Floors are rarely flat, walls are rarely plumb, and a shower built in the middle of the last century was waterproofed with methods that have long since given up. We assess the substrate before quoting anything, because tiling over a failing floor or a rotted shower pan only buries the problem for a couple of years. Where the structure calls for it we use an uncoupling membrane – Schluter Ditra – so an old, moving subfloor cannot telegraph a crack straight through a new installation.
New construction out toward Heron Lakes is the opposite problem. The house is sound and the finishes are the compromise. There the work is large-format porcelain, natural stone, steam showers and curbless entries – the upgrades the builder either did not offer or priced out of the package. Same installer, same standards, completely different starting point.
What we install in Berthoud
We specialize in full bathroom and kitchen remodels, and we handle every part of the tile and stone work in-house:
- Custom tiled showers, including Schluter Kerdi waterproof showers
- Curbless and ADA / handicap-accessible showers
- Kitchen backsplashes and natural stone installation
- Tile and stone flooring, including work over older, uneven subfloors
- Custom steam showers, fireplace surrounds, and decorative medallions
- Outdoor kitchens and barbecue islands
Why Berthoud homeowners choose TileArt
- Owner-operated since 2009 – you work directly with the installer, not a rotating crew. Roger has been installing tile since 1998.
- Certified Schluter Kerdi installer – the topical-membrane system we prefer for showers that stay mold-free and last.
- Minimum 10-year up to lifetime installation warranty, depending on the materials chosen.
- Premium materials – we prefer Laticrete products throughout and use Laticrete SpectraLOCK epoxy grout, which never needs sealing.
- Free, no-obligation estimates – we measure on site, walk you through your options, and give you a clear proposal.
Systems & materials
We match the system to the job: Schluter Kerdi and Ditra, liquid membranes like RedGard, HydroBan, and Hydrobarrier, cementitious backer board (Durock, HardieBacker), and traditional dry-pack mortar or EPS foam shower pans. Materials include porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass tile, and mosaics.
